Talya Danzig is a singer-songwriter and musician currently working toward the release of her debut album, presented through an emotional, groovy, and heart-opening full-band performance.
Talya was directly affected by the events of October 7th, when members of her family survived the massacre in Nir Oz. Her grandfather, Alex Dancyg, was kidnapped alive, murdered in captivity, and later returned for burial.
She wrote her debut album in response to the trauma and emotional challenges of the past years. Through her songs, she tells the story of her family’s coping process, the pain and the gradual learning of how to live alongside it. She sings about her grandfather, the kibbutz, and also calls for an end to the war and for a more sane and humane reality.
Although the lyrics are often sorrowful, they are wrapped in uplifting and gentle grooves. This balance lies at the heart of the music and became part of Talya’s own way of coping. The performance blends influences from reggae, spoken word, hip hop inspired by Lauryn Hill, as well as songs touched by African musical traditions.
In the band, Talya sings and plays guitar, accompanied by a rhythm section featuring:
Matat Tauba on drums, Matan Ben Yosef on bass, Ben Danzig on guitar, Dan Hirsch — producer of the album — on keyboards, Naomi Lia Ben Ari on backing vocals and percussion, and Amalia Shapira on flute.
