Modern Phase brings a genre/style mash-up of soul-jazz-hip-hop that constantly
hovers between harmony and chaos – From tender melodies to broken beats, pure
sound to a rough vibe.
Modern Phase’s musical-human dynamic is diverse and synchronized. The group’s
unique identity is expressed through the six members’ creative process as they
compose lyrics, melody and presentation as a collective. The group fluctuates
together as well as individually between poetry and songs, acoustic sounds and
digital reefs.
Godel Pierce, one of two lead vocalists in the group, grew up in the Black Hebrew
community in Dimona, from where he carries the roots of soul and hip-hop,
unleashed through his punching rap. In line with him, Daphna Ban, the second lead
vocalist in the group, brings her hovery and precise style.
Out of the chaos of sounds created by the two keyboardists, puncturing basses and
innovative drum grooves, every instrument keeps its independence and completes a
musical puzzle of pioneering music, filled with groove and soul, formed in the studio
and explodes on the stage.
In the past few years the group had already performed on some of the biggest
stages in Israel, among them Indi-negev, Teder, Pasáž and more. Recently, Modern
Phase have also opened the show for “Tank and the Bangas”, which arrived to a
sold-out concert in Israel in the “Africa Hotel” festival.
