Jenny Penkin is a Tel-Aviv based singer and producer who’s soft yet determined voice brings a fresh color to the table. Influenced by neo-soul artists on one side and all-kinds of electronic music on the other, she combines smooth vocals, honest lyrics and an edgy sound in her music. After studying in Berklee collage of music and during that year in the US she started writing songs and making beats. Jenny’s first EP ’Jennesis” was released in the label ’OW Crew’ in 2016. After returning to Israel she continued her creative quest and took on many projects, among them singing backing vocals for singer Marina Maximilian and working with local beat makers / hip-hop producers (such as Rejoicer, Cohen, Michael Swissa, Ronen Sabo and more). In 2017, Jenny began working with drummer/producer Aviv Cohen AKA Sol Monk and they created her second EP ‘Him, on the other hand’, released via Raw Tapes Records. In 2019 she founded ‘Masok’ , a future-soul band, with producer Noam Havkin, who’s also signed with Raw Tapes Records.
This year Jenny released her debut solo album, “Ze Ma Sheze” (“It is what it is”) that combines elements from late 90’s R&B, pop, and electronic music. Her songwriting and tight vocals, wrapped in beats by some of the best Hip Hop music producers make it sound like something you haven’t heard before in Israel. the album puts together a whole journey made out of Penkin’s musical influences (from artists like Destiny’s Child, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and ABBA to Against All Logic, Flying Lotus and Litlle Dragon) – all in Hebrew.
Penkin also collaborated with many talented musicians such as Teddy Neguse, Cohen, Karolina, Shazamat, Rejoicer, J.lamotta, and many more. since then her songs are being played on several playlists on Spotify and many radio stations in Israel.
She’ll be playing her new music in The Zone, with her band for the first time and you’re more than invited to come and dance. and cry. and then dance again 🙂
