Moving between contemporary jazz to Middle Eastern and Mediterranean groove, between vocal harmonies to striking solos, Yshai Afterman’s new project Naomi is an original statement that challenges musical borders.
Yshai, alongside some of Israel’s most sought-after musicians, uses music as a canvas to tell ubiquitous stories of life, and does so with precision and sensitivity. With songs he wrote both in Hebrew and English, as well as classic Israeli and American poems for which he composed and arranged the music, Naomi is as much a personal epic as it is a universal one.
